After five years, Riyad Mahrez left Manchester City and signed with Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia in a move worth up to £30 million.
The Manchester City supporters who helped him during his five-year stay at the Etihad Stadium, according to Riyad Mahrez, are people he will “never forget.”

Mahrez, 32, has left City in a move worth up to £30 million to join Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia. In the last five years, he has won 10 major titles, including the record treble last season. He came from Leicester in 2018 for £60 million.
The winger, who scored 78 goals in 236 games and registered 59 assists, was crucial to City’s run to their first-ever Champions League final in 2021. He leaves City having contributed to their victories in the FA Cup, Champions League, and third consecutive Premier League title.
Mahrez thanked City supporters in a heartfelt message for welcoming him and “giving him the confidence” each time he donned the jersey.
Mahrez posted a video featuring his City highlights, complete with behind-the-scenes footage, along with the following message: “Dear Cityzens, My life’s incredible five-year adventure, which was packed with numerous memories, comes to an end today.

“Before I left, I wanted to express my gratitude to the board, the management, and the staff for giving me the chance to perform at the very top of my game. To my team members, both old and new. It has been a pleasure to share the field and the dressing room with you.
“Together, we’ve smashed innumerable records, accomplished the seemingly unachievable, and never lost faith in ourselves despite the difficulties we encountered. I’m honored to have been a part of our final season, which will live on in the memory of our Club and those outside of it.
“I wanted to thank you, Cityzens, at this point. I’m grateful that you made me feel like a member of your family right away and gave me the courage to wear this shirt every time I stepped onto the field. I’ll always be appreciative of your love and support. I’m leaving today, but you all will always be in my heart.
“Until we next meet, I wish the Club nothing but success in the future. I appreciate everything, Riyad.
