Lionel Messi’s future remains undecided despite the Argentine maestro’s last match for PSG on Saturday. According to one source, there are reports that he has potentially reached an agreement for a transfer to Saudi Arabia.
According to recent reports, Lionel Messi’s representatives have allegedly approved a lucrative offer of £1 billion from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.
The 35-year-old superstar is about to conclude his two-season tenure at Paris Saint-Germain, with his final match scheduled for Saturday at the Parc des Princes. Messi’s presence at the stadium comes after a temporary suspension imposed by PSG due to an unauthorized trip he took to Saudi Arabia.
This incident fueled widespread speculation regarding Messi’s potential move to the Middle East once his current contract expires at the end of the season. However, the player’s father and agent, Jorge Messi, emphatically denied such claims.
Nevertheless, a recent report from Foot Mercato indicates that Al-Hilal has managed to overcome a significant obstacle by reaching an agreement with Messi’s entourage. The French outlet asserts that Messi’s representatives have accepted a staggering deal that would see him earn nearly £1 billion (€1.2 billion) over a span of two years, roughly equating to £500 million per year.
The Argentine player has been presented with a £1 billion offer to join Al-Hilal.
Lionel Messi has the possibility of joining his long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League. This move would result in Messi earning more than double the amount that Ronaldo is currently making in Saudi Arabia, following his transfer to Al-Nassr, a rival team of Al-Hilal.
Although there have been previous concerns expressed by Jorge Messi, the latest report from Foot Mercato claims that the agent has already accepted the offer. If completed, this transfer would grant him the highest commission ever received from a football transfer.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s reported earnings at Al-Hilal are only half of what Lionel Messi is said to receive.
This situation arises despite Messi’s expressed desire to return to his childhood club, Barcelona, where he achieved remarkable success, winning four Champions League titles and spending the majority of his illustrious career. Unfortunately, he was compelled to leave due to the club’s challenging financial circumstances.
In addition to Messi, his former Barcelona teammates and close friends Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba are also set to depart the Catalan club at the conclusion of the season.
Sergio Busquets has dismissed the report entirely.
Contrary to rumors of the three players reuniting at Al-Hilal, Busquets remains firm in stating that no agreement has been reached.
When questioned by Mundo Deportivo about Messi accepting an offer from Saudi Arabia, Busquets emphatically responded, “No, no, surely not. I give you my word.”
