The late-night TV host congratulated Kelce, 34, on his multimillion-dollar, two year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs during his monologue on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Tuesday before asking his studio audience, “Can you imagine being in a relationship where you make $34 million and you’re still the broke boyfriend?”
Kelce’s massive payday comes on the heels of Forbes minting his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, its newest billionaire. Citing the singer’s blockbuster Eras Tour, real estate portfolio and music catalog, the business magazine estimated her net worth to be a cool $1.1 billion.
Poking fun at the financial discrepancy between the couple, Kimmel, 56, joked Swift, 34, would dismiss Kelce’s contract as “gum money.”
The comedian continued, “Another weird thing about dating Taylor Swift is you can be one of the great players of all time, and this is the reaction you get to your contract extension.”
Kimmel then showed a screenshot from Kelce’s tearful video Monday announcing his career news. Swifties were quick to post messages of support, calling the football player “𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 girl,” “sweet boy” and “pookiest pookie.”
Kelce and the Grammy winner began dating in the summer of 2023.
While her man may not be in the same tax bracket, Swift seems smitten, with several songs on her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” rumored to have been inspired by the athlete.
During his teammate Patrick Mahomes’ charity event last weekend, Kelce referred to Swift as his “significant other” as he auctioned off four Eras Tour concert tickets before planting a kiss on her shoulder.
Though the three-time Super Bowl champion may lag behind the pop superstar in earning potential, there’s no denying being a sugar 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 looks good on him.
