Dwayne Johnson sure does look the part but fans are divided on whether they want him in the MCU or not.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always given us big bad villains who know how to put our beloved Avengers in the worst possible situations. While we have come to love some of them like Loki, it’s a little too difficult to do so with others like Thanos. And now, a report suggests that Dwayne Johnson could be taking on the responsibility for playing the MCU’s next big bad.

We all had a lot of expectations with Kang the Conqueror but how things played out in Ant-Man 3 and everything regarding Jonathan Majors’ personal life seems to have dulled out our hopes. The villain Dwayne Johnson is rumored to be playing just might be what the MCU needs but not everyone is happy with the potential casting.
Dwayne Johnson to Play a Villain in the MCU?
Reports about the MCU come left and right thanks to some of the industry insiders who are active on social media. While many of them lack credibility, some insiders have a proven track record of being right on the mark most of the time.
One such insider that falls into the second category is MyTimeToShineHello (@MyTimeToShineH on X), whose scoops have been pretty accurate over the last few years.
They recently reported that Marvel Studios were looking to cast Dwayne Johnson as the villain, Apocalypse, in the superhero universe’s future.
Apocalypse, a.k.a. En Sabah Nur is an ancient mutant warrior who has appeared in the Marvel Comics as a supervillain and is one of the world’s first mutants. Apocalypse is one of the most powerful entities in the Marvel Universe and has appeared in many X-Men titles. The character has already been brought to life by Oscar Isaac in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016).
With the MCU incorporating the X-Men more and more into the universe, Apocalypse seems like the obvious choice to play the next big bad. Johnson already has experience as a supervillain (who was later redefined as an antihero) thanks to Black Adam and playing En Sabah Nur might be right up his alley. However, the question is, do the fans even want him to play the supervillain?

If you compare Johnson and Apocalypse side-by-side, the actor sure does look the part which would make sense as to why he is reportedly Marvel Studios’ choice for the role. He has an incredible physique and looks absolutely intimidating when he springs into action. He’s the kind of man you wouldn’t want to cross, just like Apocalypse.
