Emma Stone’s new hairstyle turns her into the perfect live-action Gwen Stacy from Sony’s Spider-Verse movies, fueling rumors about her Marvel return.
Emma Stone’s new hairstyle reminds fans of the Spider-Verse‘s Spider-Woman, fueling theories about the actor’s return as Gwen Stacy in a future live-action Marvel movie. Emma Stone played Gwen Stacy in the Amazing Spider-Man movies, where she co-starred with Andrew Garfield before the MCU introduced its own version of Spider-Man. Although Gwen Stacy hasn’t appeared in live-action since then, Sony brought her into the spotlight in the Spider-Verse movies, where Gwen is a younger Spider-Person from one of the infinite realities in the multiverse.
Almost a decade after her last appearance as Gwen Stacy, Emma Stone resembles the Marvel character once again. On Instagram, Hollywood hairstylist Mara Roszak (@mararoszak) has shared an image of Emma Stone sporting a new haircut that looks like an exact recreation of the one Gwen Stacy has in the Spider-Verse movies, especially at the beginning of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Where Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy Could Return
While Emma Stone’s new haircut doesn’t necessarily mean she’s returning as Gwen Stacy anytime soon, it’s still possible to see the actor reprise her role thanks to the current prevalence of multiversal stories. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse already implemented live-action footage to acknowledge the Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man universes, and it also featured Donald Glover as an MCU Prowler variant imprisoned at the Spider-Society’s headquarters. Likewise, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse could cast Emma Stone as a live-action version of Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy a.k.a. Spider-Woman, at least for the sake of a fun cameo like Donald Glover’s.
