Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson gave a young superfan an experience she will never forget as she continues her fight with cancer.
The Hollywood megastar has been following young Luna Perrone on social media for a couple of years and described himself as ‘her biggest fan’, and he wanted to surprise her after some tough news in her ongoing health struggles.
In a video shared on social media, The Rock tells their story from the kitchen of the Hotel Bel-Air – one of his favourite hot spots – where he has invited Luna and her family without telling her the full story.
‘We have never met! Luna is so special, she’s one of the strongest girls on the planet. She’s been battling cancer for a few years now, unfortunately just received some news that the cancer has spread,’ he said.
‘She has no idea I’m gonna surprise her. I told her family, “Tell Luna that I’m setting up a lunch for you guys at my favourite hotel, I’m sorry I can’t be there.” ‘
However, Dwayne had arranged to be the one to take her the meal, to really give her a reason to smile.
He added: ‘I’m gonna take her food that she ordered, I’m gonna be a waiter – not a good one, I’m sure. I’m gonna take her food out, we’re gonna surprise her… She got chicken fingers and fries and ketchup – that’s my girl! Here we go!’
The WWE legend thanked the kitchen staff as he made his way out to the hotel restaurant, saying he’s there because ‘someone wants lunch’, and the look on Luna’s face is everything.
Clearly shell shocked, she said ‘hi’, and Dwayne called her up for a hug as he replied: ‘You know what I need? Get in here! I can’t believe I’m finally meeting you!’
Writing on Twitter alongside the video, he hailed her as a ‘very special and strong young girl’, and described working as her waiter as one of the best jobs he’s ever had.
‘I’ve had some super cool jobs in my life – but being Luna’s waiter just might be the coolest 😎 👍🏾 She was in total shock and awe,’ he wrote. ‘What a cool moment and I’m honored to finally have met Luna!’
He describes these moments as ‘the best part of fame’, and he was overjoyed to be able to meet his hero.
He described: ‘They say, don’t meet ever meet your heroes, because you’ll be disappointed — well I got to meet my hero and she was AWESOME
