This past week, while gearing up for the first date of her Future Nostalgia tour in Miami, Dua Lipa has been wearing a seemingly endless rotation of bright and beautiful outfits. Among her images of pasta and ice cream on social media, we’ve seen the pop star in everything from an itty bitty bikini to a playful floral top – but look closer, and this wasn’t just any piece. Instead, it was actually crafted to appear as a flower blooming from Lipa’s body. The top, created by Nikita Chekrygin of the Russian-based label Ch4rm, includes petals that were produced separately and then stitched together, with the transparent layers giving the flower an impressive three-dimensional effect.
Ch4rm is an up-and-coming label that is firmly on its way towards dominating celebrity wardrobes. Chekrygin has a wonderfully warped take on the noughties, which he makes his own by infusing it with elements of his Russian upbringing. It’s all excess, with plenty of denim on denim and plenty of skin. The pieces feel ready made for the pop stars of today, but also come with a story. Chekrygin’s spring/summer 2022 collection, which Lipa’s top is from, is based on his designer aunt’s collections and retro beauty salons in his home city of Tula, Russia. In other words? Don’t be surprised if this isn’t the last time you see Ch4rm on one of your favourite celebrity fashion plates.
