When you think of argyle, there’s a strong chance that prep school might come to mind, à la Gossip Girl’s Constance Billard School for Girls. Styled without the textbooks and fourth-period calculus, it’s equal parts chic, preppy, and cool, as recently proven by Dua Lipa. On Tuesday, December 8, the 25-year-old singer posted a series of pics snapped in a backseat of a car, wearing an argyle knit Burberry crew-neck sweater with a white-collared shirt underneath.
Just a day prior, Madonna posted a photo to Instagram wearing the same exact sweater, which is none other than the November launch of the British luxury fashion house’s limited edition “B Series.” If you’re new to Burberry’s monthly drop model, the label releases a special piece on the 17th of each month, available for 24 hours only. Lipa and Madonna scooped on the last drop, which is described as “Riccardo Tisci’s take on the festive sweater.”
The oversized argyle knit features cool cutouts on the sleeves, with a grey, black, and tan colorway. But perhaps the best and most eye-catching part of the piece is its fun multicolored “TB” monogram print.
This launch is sold out, but shoppers can look forward to the next drop this month, on December 17. Keep in mind that the limited-edition pieces are only available to shop via social media using Instagram’s shopping feature. In other words, you won’t be able to shop it on the brand’s website at all. Nevertheless, this shopping experience has helped foster a relationship with the label and its social media following.
“We have seen great results from the monthly B Series product drops which launched last September [2018], bridging the journey from inspiration to e-commerce for our social community for the first time,” said Rachel Waller, VP of marketing and digital at Burberry. Its previous special-edition pieces include everything from sunglasses for summer and little luxuries for your pup to sleek tailored blazers and timeless trenches.
So even though we can’t cop the celeb-approved knit, GRAZIA’s curated a guide full of lookalike options, including argyle knits and monogram cardigans. Scroll through to shop our luxury edit below.
