In the midst of Hollywood strife, could The Rock make a huge WWE return?
And if so…could that be why he and upstart Australian Superstar Grayson Waller are escalating their social media spat?
To set the table, if you will…
Hollywood is currently shut down. The Rock works basically exclusively in Hollywood.
As such…The Rock cannot currently work.
We had already seen the writers strike, and most recently, the actors (SAG-AFTRA) joined them on the picket line.
Which means, there are no shooting schedules to work around.
Suddenly, Dwayne Johnson’s once busy schedule is not so filled.
Could The Rock Make A Huge WWE Return?
There is no credible rumor to indicate that this is happening, but fans and other sites are throwing that option out there.
The Rock (and others) cannot currently film a Hollywood project, but WWE Superstars are not beholden to that. Each is an independent contractor.
While some might wish to have that debate, we aren’t going there now.
Cena just showed up at Money In The Bank, but for now that was a one-off.
We know that at one point, WWE wanted Roman Reigns against The Rock at WrestleMania 39, but The Great One reportedly declined due to not being able to be prepared in time.
Suddenly, any time constraints he might have had because of his latest blockbuster movie are gone.
For now, this is just a lot of people putting two and two together. There is, thus far, no reason to think this is actually already brewing.
Except that Vince McMahon likes big box office draws, and he is back around. And there aren’t many box office draws bigger than Dwayne Johnson.
There is some smoke, sort of.
If you’ve been paying attention, Grayson Waller has been taking shots at The Rock, most recently on Friday’s SmackDown.
Waller went so far as to bust out one signature catchphrase.
Knowing that a lot of what the talents do is scripted to some extent…this might not have been on accident.
