UPDATE: Nathan Ake is about to receive a huge contract from Man City that help him become one of the highest Dutch players in Premier League

Nathan Ake is reportedly close to signing a new long-term contract at Manchester City.

The Dutchman is coming off his best season at the Etihad yet, making 41 appearances in all competitions as they secured a historic Treble.

Ake has two-years left on his contract, though the reigning Premier Champions are keen to tie down the 28-year-old’s future at the club.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the club have reached an agreement with Ake and that a new deal is set to be completed in the next few days.

He claims that a verbal agreement has been reached after talks earlier this week, with a new long term deal in place which will see an increase to his current salary.

According to Telegraaf, Manchester City will reward Nathan Ake a new contract thanks to its outstanding progress in the past seasons.

The current contract is limited to the summer of 2025 and is enjoying the remuneration of about 150 thousand euros/ week

Man City is preparing to reward the contributions of a large contract with a compensation of about 190 thousand euros/ week, while increasing the contract for an additional 2 years to the summer of 2027.

According to De Telegraaf, Pep Team personally has suggested to the club’s leadership that Nathan Ake is a very important player in his squad.

Ake’s game-time increased last season as Pep Guardiola often used him as a left-back

Ake has made 81 appearances in all competitions for Man City, since he completed a £40m move from Bournemouth in the summer of 2020.

The Dutch international took time to settle to life at the Etihad, making just 24 Premier League appearances across his first two seasons.

Last season though he saw his game time increased as Pep Guardiola often deployed him as a left-back.

Ake has given City an injury scare ahead of the new campaign, after he hobbled off during their pre-season clash with Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

He only played for 30 minutes in City’s 2-1 victory over the Bundesliga champions in Japan before colliding harmlessly with Kingsley Coman of Bayern.

Any harm to Ake could force the team to sign defender Josko Gvardiol from Croatia.

Thought to be on the verge of joining the Etihad in a club-record £90 million deal for the RB Leipzig center-back, the German’s club chief confirmed earlier this week that there was no agreement in place between the two teams.
