Dua Lipa has a viral dance move that everyone loves and she’s opening up about how it became her signature move.
The 26-year-old singer talked about the dance move, which she reclaimed for her Future Nostalgia Tour, while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday (March 3) in New York City.
Dua first did the move years ago and then she was called out for being “lazy.”
She said the online response “was kind of like, ‘Oh, she looks like she’s trying to put her shoe on in a rush or something.’”
“The reason we’re talking about it is because I brought it back. I’m doing it on my tour,” Dua said. “I’m reclaiming it because there was a moment where it actually caused me a lot of grief. Like I was being bullied online. It wasn’t very nice, but now I can look at it from a different perspective. I look back on it with such fondness because it helped me grow into the artist I wanted to become. It made me work harder. I went in, I did more rehearsal. I just wanted to become a real performer and I think that was the thing I needed.”
Dua now starts “Don’t Start Now” on her tour with the dance move, which she demonstrated on the show.
During the appearance, Dua also surprised an 80-year-old man who is one of her biggest fans!
