Battle G-Wagen “Redeye” Is the Mercedes Muscle SUV

One of the most interesting design challenges of last year came about when Nitto Tire asked a bunch of 3D artists to use their new NT420V on some custom-digital SUVs. We already showed you Basil Design’s take on the G 63 that we deemed ready for Pikes Peak, and here’s the Brad Builds version.

This one is based on the normal G-Wagen, and you can tell by the shape of the main grille and the bumper. However, the G 550 isn’t that bad, and still retails some V8 turbo muscle.

Now, the NV420V is like the typical SUV/truck tire, with a nice pattern and compound. It fits on your average Silverado or Escalade, though this setup looks more suited for some crazy race car.

It’s so wide that even the chunky Mercedes wasn’t able to swallow all the rubber. And while you usually see this much rubber on a lifted truck or Jeep, this G-Class is slammed to the ground. For added visual impact, the factory fender extensions have also been deleted.

Another crazy piece of tech is a single turbocharger sticking though the hood. It seems rather pointless when you consider the G 550 already has two hot turbos. But installing as many of these snail shells as possible has become an art form in the custom truck community. Maybe one of these days, we’ll get to highlight a crazy six-turbo build.

Further mods include the under-rider bar at the front. You’d need that on a G 550 4×4 Squared, but it seems pointless here. And while this pixel piece seems pointless to some, we assure you that it has a very real equivalent.

A slammed white G 63 was one of the most interesting debuts at last year’s SEMA Show, with more builds like that undoubtedly on their way.
