Manchester United supporters praised Bruno Fernandes as the ‘best in the world’ after he delivered a hat-trick of assists in a historic victory for Portugal.
Bruno Fernandes grabbed a hat-trick of assists and a goal against Luxembourg
In Monday’s Euro 2024 qualifier, the 29-year-old midfielder even managed to score for his team as they crushed Luxembourg 9-0.
At the Estadio Algarve, Fernandes ignited the action in the 12th minute by crossing the ball onto Goncalo Inacio’s head for the game’s first goal.
At the conclusion of the first half, just before the break, he once more served as Inacio’s supplier.
And in the second half, he earned his third assist by floating a gorgeous ball over the top for Liverpool’s Diogo Jota to sprint on and score to make it 5-0.
The eighth goal of the nine-goal romp was subsequently drilled in from close range by Fernandes, adding his name to the goal glut.
That continued his fantastic record on the international scene despite he and United’s unpredictable start to the Premier League season.
Fernandes has so far contributed to more direct goals in the Euro qualifying phase than any other player with four assists and three goals in six games.
Additionally, as soon as videos of his most recent spectacular performance for Portugal appeared on social media, United supporters praised their master on Twitter.
One said he was the “best in the world,” while another claimed he was “running the show”.
While a fellow United supporter referred to the ace as a “creative machine,” another person termed him “Magnifico.”
The outcome was also Portugal’s largest win ever, surpassing their 8-0 records over Liechtenstein and Kuwait.
And if they defeat Slovakia at home on October 13 and Luxembourg loses away to Iceland, they will be able to qualify for the Euros in Germany with three games remaining.
