Ronaldo quit the Portuguese national team soon after, and his ‘successor’ always told the truth

Cristiano Ronaldo quickly departed the Portuguese national team to return to Al Nasr due to a ban, but he is still highly regarded by his peers.

Portugal’s last Euro 2024 qualifier versus Luxembourg will take place at daybreak tomorrow, September 12 (European time). They will go to the final round in Germany next year if they win this match.

However, Portugal will be without captain Cristiano Ronaldo for tomorrow’s home encounter. The cause was a yellow card in the most recent encounter against Slovakia, which resulted in CR7 receiving three penalty cards and being suspended for one match.

According to the Portuguese press, Ronaldo quickly departed the Portuguese team to return to Saudi Arabia to focus on Al Nassr after being unable to play in the match against Luxembourg. However, according to one of his national team teammates, CR7 did not depart immediately and instead provided extensive assistance to his younger teammates.

Striker Goncalo Ramos claimed on Record that CR7 stayed with the club and only left on the last day of practice.

“Cristiano Ronaldo always helps us a lot. He was with the team until Sunday (September 10 European time) to support us and help in every way possible. But at this moment, Ronaldo left the team to return to his club.”

Goncalo Ramos is expected to be the starting player to replace Ronaldo in the next match against Luxembourg. The PSG striker is not too unfamiliar with this position, having played for CR7 in the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup.

The 22-year-old striker is expected to be a crucial component of Portugal’s offense in the post-Ronaldo era. That scenario, however, is unlikely to occur until after Euro 2024, when the 38-year-old great is desperate to assist the European Selecao win another major trophy.
